Here is the list for this week! Please return to me by 11-11.

You can customize your box however you like, just keep your total at $50 or above. The top portion is what comes in the box this week, it totals $50. You can take it just as it is, or you can exchange as many items as you like from the bottom portion, as long as your total is at least $50 you’re good! The bulk organic dry goods are not included in the exchanging and are only for adding on to your box.

Please return your lists to me by 11-11 We fill the boxes in the order we receive your orders. This means getting your order to me sooner than later is in your favor. We sell out every week!

You can:

1. Fill out the forms and return them OR
2. Simply let me know what you don’t want and what you do want in a list or a couple sentences.

I will send another email on Thursday morning with pick up and payment info.

We are working hard at creating an online presence where we can all meet together and talk about all things organic produce (coming soon recipes (!!!), a blog…who knows what I’ll write about? For those of you that have known me for a while, you know I lOVE to write! I’m just a wee bit excited about this part…), a store front where you can place your weekly customized order (with pictures even!), make changes to your schedule, save your payment info. (I know more than a few of you are looking forward to not having to enter your card info every week), order dry goods, etc.. We are hoping to go live next week. CAN I ASK A FAVOR? We would like to include a testimonials space, for you to share your experience with us. If you would be so kind… Can you send me a short couple of sentences and include a pic of yourself that we can use on our website? (Don’t forget the picture! Our website designer/guru really wants pictures.) THANK YOU!

Weekly Produce Update:

Winter squash, apples, apple cider, pomegranates, persimmons, pears, grapes and we are starting to see glimpses of the citrus season popping up. Prices are still very high as the crops are just starting, but soon we will see navel oranges and satsumas! Spotlight this week is on Fuyu persimmons. These are a different variety than what we have had the past two weeks. You don’t have to wait until they are super soft to enjoy fuyus, you can eat them just like an apple! And they are soooooo delicious! I highly suggest you try them! Enjoy! Fuyu persimmons are high fiber, potassium, vitamin C and vitamin A.

Perfect Thai Spicy Peanut Salad
One of my FAVORITES.
I took 4 different recipes and made it PERFECT.

Perfect Thai Spicy Peanut Salad

How to make:

For the sauce:

  • A couple cloves garlic
  • 1 Tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • Juice of a couple limes, fresh, about 3-4 Tablespoons
  • 2 Tablespoons coconut aminos, tamari or soy sauce would work too, not my first choice though.
  • Dash of stevia, you can use whatever you want, just a little sweetener, one recipe calls for maple syrup, which I think would compliment well.
  • 1/3 cup peanut butter, almond butter works too.
  • 1/3 cup peanut flour, use this if you have it, if not, double your peanut butter and use a little less water.
  • 1- 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil, KEY ingredient, don’t skip!
  • Water, about 1/4 cup, whatever you need to get a sauce consistency.
  • Dash of cayenne, to taste.

I like to use my food processor, but a whisk will work too.

If using a food processor, add garlic while the blade is running, chop, then add the rest and process until smooth.

If using whisk, mince garlic and then add everything together and whisk until you have a sauce.

Veggies:
WHATEVER you have. Today I had zucchini and carrots which I spiralized and then chopped a little. I added green cabbage cut fine, red peppers, broccoli and LOTS of fresh cilantro. Cilantro is a non-option for me, but if you don’t care for cilantro it will still be good without it.

Protein:
Grilled chicken or shrimp work well. Tofu would be good too. I think just about everything would be delicious. You can top with crushed peanuts too, they add a yummy crunchy layer. Enjoy your fresh organic produce this week!

We are still loving our Cali time. The kids started surf camp last week! This is a picture of them. Camp is from 2pm-5pm, so they get to enjoy the spectacular sunsets while out there. I’m often out there too! We are wearing wetsuits pretty much all the time now, but the sun is still warm. We are soaking it up, storing up all the sunshine we can. We will be here for at least another month and I’m not complaining. You know how it is, when you leave Sitka, you know it’s time to come back, you feel it in your soul, a calling to come back home. We aren’t there yet, almost.
